Vida

Apenas se conservan datos acerca de la vida de Carlos Valerien Cusachs más allá de los referidos a su año de nacimiento, 1874, y los consagrados en sus publicaciones. Así, sabemos que Cusachs debió ser profesor de español en la Academia naval de los Estados Unidos en torno a los años de 1903 y 1910.

Una de las primeras publicaciones que conocemos de Cusachs es un curso elemental de español destinado al aprendizaje de la pronunciación en doce lecciones con sus correspondientes grabaciones recopiladas por el propio autor, que fue publicada bajo el título de Elementary course in Spanish pronunciation: Twelve lessons and twelve records (1903). También entre sus obras enmarcadas en el ámbito gramatical hispánico, encontramos la obra que el profesor creó junto al también docente de español y de francés Thatcher Clark (1876-1922-¿?) para la enseñanza del español a los oficiales del rango de guardiamarina de la Academia naval estadounidense, Verbos y notas gramaticales. La obra se compone de quince apartados centrados exclusivamente en la explicación de la categoría gramatical de los verbos, y se completa con una extensa lista de verbos ordenados alfabéticamente. De fecha posterior, sería otra obra que Cusachs publicó junto a Max Russell Brunstetter (1902-1934-¿?) para la enseñanza de la pronunciación y de la dicción en español, Introduction to Spanish pronunciation and diction: a manual for the Erpi Spanish pronunciation and diction records. Más allá de estas obras gramaticales, encontramos entre las publicaciones de Cusachs una edición de Pepita Jiménez de Juan Valera (1824-1905), basada en la de 1898, con notas y un vocabulario final español-inglés que abarca más de un centenar de páginas.

The BVFE regurlaly publishes new bibliographical recordsLatest bibliographical records. Our team is constantly searching for new entries. We choose our content meticulously and verify our links regularly.

Several times a month

We add new content several times a month. We gradually add more content to existing entries, and likewise add more categories and subcategories as future needs require reclassification.

Printing bibliographical records

All of the bibliographical recordsImprimir registro de la Biblioteca Virtual de la Filología Española that are in the BVFE can be printed. Click on the "Print" button located below each record. A new window will open with the content of the file ready for printing.

Printing the works

The BVFE does not own the intellectual property rights to the entries, it only selects, organizes and indicates the sites where they are located. As such, it is impossible to print the copies from the BVFE. You must agree to the legal conditions of the websites that contain the copies.

Extensions

We are currently devising several extensions for the website. We will gradually integrate upgrades and more functions. The BVFE welcomes any suggestions that our users may have.

Submission of new URLs

Clicking on the + sign located on the dropdown tab at the top of the website Refer a URL or make a suggestion will take you to a form that has a field where you can send a URL address that has not yet been included in the BVFE. It is simple to use: just indicate the URL of the entry and we will do the rest, after completing the corresponding checks.
