Vida

Ángel Serra fue un religioso novohispano, activo en Michoacán durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVII. La vida de este autor es un enigma, pues solo son conocidos los datos consignados por él mismo en la portada de su Manual de administrar los santos sacramentos a españoles y naturales de esta provincia de Michuacán (José Bernardo de Hogal, Ciudad de México, 1697). Dichas notas nos informan de, primero, su condición de párroco en el municipio de Charapan (Michoacán) y, después, de su residencia en el convento franciscano de Santiago de Querétaro, donde ejerció como doctrinero. La investigación solo ha aportado que Serra nació en algún lugar del estado de Michoacán en una fecha por determinar. Sigue sin conocerse dónde y cuándo murió.
El trabajo filológico de este autor se encuadra dentro de los métodos y los objetivos de la lingüística misionera. En su caso, fue la lengua tarasca o purépecha el objeto de atención. El quehacer del franciscano cristalizó en la composición de una obra miscelánea, pues incluye tanto reflexiones lingüísticas como religiosas, denominada Arte, confesionario y vocabulario en lengua tarasca, compuesto en torno a 1695. Este trabajo circuló en forma de manuscrito, aunque, según parece, estaba casi preparado para ser llevado a la imprenta. En la actualidad se conserva de forma fragmentaria en la Biblioteca John Carter Brown, en Providence (Rhode Island, EE. UU.). También se conservan copias fotográficas en varias instituciones, como la Library of Congress, en Washington; la Harvard University, en Cambridge (Massachusetts) o la Brigham Young University, en Provo (Utah). La copia atesorada por esta última es la que incluye la BVFE en su catálogo.

The BVFE regurlaly publishes new bibliographical recordsLatest bibliographical records. Our team is constantly searching for new entries. We choose our content meticulously and verify our links regularly.

Several times a month

We add new content several times a month. We gradually add more content to existing entries, and likewise add more categories and subcategories as future needs require reclassification.

Printing bibliographical records

All of the bibliographical recordsImprimir registro de la Biblioteca Virtual de la Filología Española that are in the BVFE can be printed. Click on the "Print" button located below each record. A new window will open with the content of the file ready for printing.

Printing the works

The BVFE does not own the intellectual property rights to the entries, it only selects, organizes and indicates the sites where they are located. As such, it is impossible to print the copies from the BVFE. You must agree to the legal conditions of the websites that contain the copies.

Extensions

We are currently devising several extensions for the website. We will gradually integrate upgrades and more functions. The BVFE welcomes any suggestions that our users may have.

Submission of new URLs

Clicking on the + sign located on the dropdown tab at the top of the website Refer a URL or make a suggestion will take you to a form that has a field where you can send a URL address that has not yet been included in the BVFE. It is simple to use: just indicate the URL of the entry and we will do the rest, after completing the corresponding checks.
