Galavotti, Guillermo Luis (¿?-1875)

Vida

De la vida de Guillermo Luis Galavotti a penas conocemos nada. Seguramente era de Barcelona, ciudad en la que pasó la mayor parte de su vida. En ella fue discípulo de Antonio Bergnes de las Casas (1801-1879), y en ella se consagró a la enseñanza. En la portada de sus Elementos de gramática castellana nos informa de que era licenciado en Literatura (pero no de dónde obtuvo el título), regente de francés y de inglés. En 1858 era director del colegio de San Luis de Barcelona, como puede leerse en el folleto Colegio de segunda enseñanza incorporado a la Universidad, dirigido por Guillermo Luis Gavalotti (Imp. de la Publicidad, de Antonio Flotats, Barcelona, 1858), que firma como empresario director. Murió en Barcelona en febrero de 1875, según comunica el Almanaque del diario de Barcelona para el año bisiesto 1876 (imprenta del Diario de Barcelona, Barcelona, 1875, pág. 102).

A Galavotti se le deben diversas obras dirigidas a la enseñanza, tanto de lenguas, como de caligrafía. Su Arte no es sino una edición más del Arte de hablar bien francés (1781) de Pierre Nicolas Chantreau (1741-1808), por más que en su portada silencie el nombre de este. En esa misma portada dice ser alumno de la escuela de la Junta de Comercio de Barcelona, y que fue aceptada por ella como libro de texto en su cátedra de idioma francés. Con esta edición se adelantó a la que seis años más tarde prepararía su maestro Bergnes de las Casas.
También escribió unos Elementos de gramática castellana que no pretendía que fueran originales, sino que contuvieran claramente expuestos los principales contenidos de la gramática para que los comprendiesen con sencillez los niños que comenzaran a estudiarla.

The browser

The BVFE regurlaly publishes new bibliographical recordsLatest bibliographical records. Our team is constantly searching for new entries. We choose our content meticulously and verify our links regularly.

Several times a month

We add new content several times a month. We gradually add more content to existing entries, and likewise add more categories and subcategories as future needs require reclassification.

Sharing options

You can send any BVFE entry to a friend, partner, researcher or any person interested in history of the Spanish language. To do so, press the button "Recommend" found under each file and send the entry to an email address.

Printing bibliographical records

All of the bibliographical recordsImprimir registro de la Biblioteca Virtual de la Filología Española that are in the BVFE can be printed. Click on the "Print" button located below each record. A new window will open with the content of the file ready for printing.

Printing the works

The BVFE does not own the intellectual property rights to the entries, it only selects, organizes and indicates the sites where they are located. As such, it is impossible to print the copies from the BVFE. You must agree to the legal conditions of the websites that contain the copies.

Extensions

We are currently devising several extensions for the website. We will gradually integrate upgrades and more functions. The BVFE welcomes any suggestions that our users may have.

Submission of new URLs

Clicking on the + sign located on the dropdown tab at the top of the website Refer a URL or make a suggestion will take you to a form that has a field where you can send a URL address that has not yet been included in the BVFE. It is simple to use: just indicate the URL of the entry and we will do the rest, after completing the corresponding checks.
