Morris Goldberg fue un lexicógrafo especializado en el español y el inglés, que nació en 1900 y falleció tempranamente en 1947, en los Estados Unidos. No conocemos muchos datos acerca de su vida, aunque, gracias a la información contenida en sus publicaciones, podemos deducir que o bien era estadounidense o bien residió en los EE. UU. durante la mayor parte de su vida, dado que trabajó como director del equipo de traductores técnicos del Centro de Traducción e Investigación de la ciudad de Nueva York. Por su apellido, Goldberg, y el de su esposa, Levine, es posible pensar que la familia Goldberg-Levine pertenecía a la comunidad judía estadounidense.
Una de las primeras obras que se conocen de Morris Goldberg fue Spanish-English idioms (1940), que se ha seguido editando hasta nuestros días y cuya última reimpresión data de 2013 (Literary Licensing, LLC, Montana, EE. UU.). En el mismo año de su muerte, 1947, Goldberg publicó una de sus obras más importantes, un diccionario inglés-español sobre términos químicos y médicos, English-Spanish chemical and medical dictionary […], que estaba destinado a traductores y jefes de exportaciones mercantiles, así como a científicos y a todos aquellos relacionados con, o interesados por las ciencias biosanitarias. En el prefacio de dicha obra, Morris Goldberg agradece a su mujer, Bessie Goldberg-Levine (¿?-1947-1952-¿?), su inestimable ayuda con gran parte de la terminología sanitaria presente en el diccionario, dada su experiencia como enfermera en el Hospital Bellevue (Nueva York). Fue precisamente su mujer quien, tras la muerte de Goldberg, recopiló partes del manuscrito de la versión del diccionario español-inglés de términos químicos y médicos e hizo posible su publicación en 1952 bajo el título de Spanish-English chemical and medical dictionary […]. La edición español-inglés no difiere notablemente de la primera edición del autor en inglés-español. Ambas se caracterizan por la inclusión de más de 2000 nuevos términos que no estaban presentes en diccionarios similares. El Diccionario químico y médico de Goldberg prescindió de detalles enciclopédicos para conseguir una mayor fluidez en la lectura e incorporó las nuevas medicinas y técnicas descubiertas en el campo de la ciencia en aras de mantener el diccionario actualizado.

The browser
Performing a search in the BVFE is very simple. Either write the word or string of words in our browser, search for a specific category, or perform an alphabetical search by choosing a letter.
Advanced filters
In addition, all of our records contain several fields. To search for a specific work by date of publication, filter by copy, printer, place of printing, etc., use the Advanced Search.

New bibliographical records
The BVFE regurlaly publishes new bibliographical records. Our team is constantly searching for new entries. We choose our content meticulously and verify our links regularly.
Several times a month
We add new content several times a month. We gradually add more content to existing entries, and likewise add more categories and subcategories as future needs require reclassification.

Sharing options
You can send any BVFE entry to a friend, partner, researcher or any person interested in history of the Spanish language. To do so, press the button "Recommend" found under each file and send the entry to an email address.

We have also included a sidebar on the left of the screen which can be used to share on social media, select the BVFE as a favourite in your web browser, etc. On tablets and phones the share option will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

When any category of the BVFE loads, you will see an RSS icon. Clicking on it allows you to join the feed and receive updated information for the category you have subscribed to. If your browser does not allow you to subscribe to an RSS source, you may need to install a plugin. You can also subscribe via RSS to receive updates directly in your email. Printing bibliographical records
All of the bibliographical records that are in the BVFE can be printed. Click on the "Print" button located below each record. A new window will open with the content of the file ready for printing.
Printing the works
The BVFE does not own the intellectual property rights to the entries, it only selects, organizes and indicates the sites where they are located. As such, it is impossible to print the copies from the BVFE. You must agree to the legal conditions of the websites that contain the copies.

Extensions
We are currently devising several extensions for the website. We will gradually integrate upgrades and more functions. The BVFE welcomes any suggestions that our users may have.
Submission of new URLs
Clicking on the + sign located on the dropdown tab at the top of the website will take you to a form that has a field where you can send a URL address that has not yet been included in the BVFE. It is simple to use: just indicate the URL of the entry and we will do the rest, after completing the corresponding checks.
